Fred Cherry Story

(1) Regrettably, the copies of the same page in the Internet Archive formerly linked to (1 2) have vanished out of the archive, because dcez.com has let its registration lapse and a robots.txt file has been attached to the domain, apparently by its new owners. However, I was able to find this post by Fred Cherry in which he writes

At the beginning of 1996 I filed suit in federal court to challenge the constitutionality of the Communications Decency Act of 1996. The papers are on file in the United States Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street, New York, N.Y. The title and Index Number of the case is Cherry v. Reno, 96 Civ. 2498 (DLC).

At the time of this revision (October 7, 2010, 2:44 am Central US time), EFF's records of the case are offline. Given the age of the case, I don't know if they're coming back online, but note the dating and the similar controversy of the two cases, should you doubt that Cherry lost this one, a fact that Cherry himself doesn't dispute, as one can see in the next post of his that you'll see. I'll try to find a nonrotted link for this one, later.
